Obs rate control
When first using OBS you might be overwhelmed by the sheer number of options available and the configuration required. In this tab you can configure the majority of both video and audio options.
Depending on your hardware you might want to enable hardware encoding. Turning on hardware encoding will reduce the CPU usage, however it can result in slightly lower visual fidelity. Rate control will determine how consistent or inconsistent your bitrate will be. CBR or constant bitrate is the most widely used and accepted method. Generally speaking CBR also provides the highest visual fidelity, as it will aim to maintain a consistent specified bitrate. However, the downside to this is that it will require higher bandwidth.
If you have limited upload bandwidth, then VBR or variable bitrate is a good choice. We go into much more detail about how to determine your ideal bitrate in this article about BPP or bits per pixel.
For live streaming you will want to set your keyframe interval to 2. What this means is that a full video frame will be rendered every 2 seconds. If you want to learn more about keyframes, head over here. It will determine how much CPU power you wish to use to render the video. The slower you set it, the higher the video quality, however the higher the CPU usage is.
You can go down the rabbit hole and learn what each of the profiles do, and what different features they support. You can read more about it here. Setting up audio is relatively straightforward. All you really need to do is set an audio bitrate. We recommend at leastas any lower the audio can sound quite compressed. If you run into any audio sync issues, you can set an audio delay to align sync.
You can check out our guide on how to do that here. In this area we specify what resolution we want the stream to be output at. For the highest visual fidelity you will want your base canvas to match your output resolution. By using the values suggested in this guide you should get a decent quality stream being broadcast by OBS. However, if you or your viewers are noticing stuttering or a weird frame rate of your live stream, you might be dropping frames.
There could be a number of things causing this issue. Your email address will not be published. Leave A Comment Cancel reply Your email address will not be published. Before your raw video can be sent from OBS to a streaming platform or recorded to your hard driveit first needs to be downscaled and converted into a usable format. During that process, the detail is removed to shrink the video size down, which is where Rate Control comes in.
Choosing the right Rate Control will have a massive impact on the quality of your videoso knowing which is the right for your content is vital. The Encoder you choose will impact which Rate Controls are available to you, such as ABR which can only be used when x is your Encoder.
With that out of the way, here are your options, when to use them, and even a couple to avoid! Your Rate Control is tied to your video bitrate, so if you need a refresher on what bitrate you should be using check out our guide here!
This is the standard bitrate to use for streamers. Also, CBR sends data in a mostly predictable fashion, meaning it is less likely to encounter problems when traveling to its endpoint than more erratic Rate Controls.
This option allows more complex parts of your stream to use more bits and less detailed parts use less. If you need to record video at ultra-high quality, CQP is the way to go. Recording with CQP will fill your hard drive pretty quick, and truthfully you may be better off with VBR see belowbut if you need ALL the detail of a video like when doing graphics comparison videos CQP might be for you. While CBR provides a constant video output of the same quality, VBR will adjust the bitrate up and down depending on what is needed.
Sounds good, right? In addition to that and as mentioned beforebecause of how data is routed online from servers to routers and so on the unpredictable nature of VBR can introduce issues that the predictable nature of CBR avoids.
Your hard drive will thank you. Approximately every 6 points will double your file size, and as you can imagine, subtracting 6 will halve it. Sign in. Andrew Whitehead Follow. For streaming, use CBR. For recording, use CQP. What's the difference between the 2? Also is there a way to reset everything back to default settings? Narcogen Active Member. CBR controls bitrate. CQP specifies a quality level, regardless of how much or how little data needs to be captured to achieve that quality level. Streaming sites want non-variable bitrates, but when you're recording it doesn't matter as much. These encoding methods produce the same quality for each frame, regardless the motion.
For high motion, a higher bitrate is required in this case, and for low motion less bitrate. Unfortunately, a data stream with variable bitrate will not be transported flawlessly by the internet. If the bitrate rises for high motion scenes, and there are many receivers, the sender could overload its connection and every receiver gets a lag or buffers the video.
This also happens every time a short bitrate spike is over the bandwidth of one receiver. So it's required to even out the bitrate for streaming, and this is done with the CBR mode. For high motion scenes, the quality is toned down temporarily, so it uses the same bitrate as low motion scenes in this mode.
So it's clear that for recording, the quality-based encoding methods are better, because high motion is encoded with better quality than with CBR mode. You can rise the bitrate for CBR to highest levels, of course, so you don't see the difference any more, but that is a waste of disk space, because lower motion scenes could be saved with muss less bandwith or space without suffering quality.

With game-by-game surprises, weekly power rankings continue to shift the on-field product. Welcome to Week 14 of the 2017 NFL season. With a new week, we get a few things: Fantasy football, cheering on your favorite team, and, of course, taking a peek at the spreads in order to make sure you're on the right side of every outcome.

The Bengals technically are still in the AFC playoff race. That'll last at least another week.SocialRank is an Instagram and Twitter followers management tool.
It allows you to segment, identify, and understand your followers so that you can better engage them. It is more of an audience insights tool than a data analytics tool. Pixlee is a visual marketing platform that uses user-generated content from Instagram, Facebook, and more. It offers a free Instagram analytics app, which would send you a weekly report. While it does not provide as much data as other free Instagram analytics tools, it calculates your Instagram influence score, which few tools offer.
Your score is calculated by an algorithm which takes into account metrics such as your network size, engagement, and community trends. Tip: If you are using Buffer for Business, you already have access to some basic Instagram analytics such as top posts and metrics graphs. I thought it might be helpful to share a little about how we use Instagram as a marketing tool and how we track our Instagram performance at Buffer.
Brian Peters, our digital marketing strategist, uses the various content formats for different marketing purposes. Our Instagram posts are for driving brand awareness and engagement while our Instagram Stories and live videos are for sharing educational content.
Instead, each brand has their own perfect time to post. With Instagram analytics, you can find your perfect posting times. With Instagram Insights from the Instagram app, you can tell the days when your followers are most active and the average times they are on Instagram on a typical day.
For instance, our followers seem to be most active on Sunday and from about 9 pm to 6 am SGT (or 8 am ET to 5 pm ET, working hours in the East Coast) for most days of the week.
Using the Instagram Insights, you can easily tell which are your top posts and stories based on impressions, reach, and engagement. Once you have sorted your top posts, do you notice any trends. For instance, our giveaway posts tend to generate the most comments while user-generated landscape photos usually receive the most engagement.
To drive more engagement, we can continue to post landscape photos from our community. For example, if most of your followers are females aged 35-44 who like to design, can you create content that resonates with them more than the rest of your followers.
You can also use your Instagram Stories data to improve your stories. Instagram Insights from the Instagram app provides data such as impressions, exits, and replies, which you can use to tell better stories. For example, our story on creating a custom graphic within Canva received more impressions than other recent stories, and our Instagram Stories takeover by HubSpot on productivity tips received more replies than other recent stories.
We can also dive into a particular story: Most people exited our video marketing stats story at the first photo so perhaps we could work on the headline for the next story. What does your Instagram Stories data tell you.
Is there a type of stories that tends to do better than the rest. Is there a common point when most of your followers exit your stories. Since Instagram allows only one link (in the bio), marketers would usually have a call-to-action (CTA) in their Instagram posts to direct followers to the link in their bio. You could change your CTA on a weekly basis and see if the number of website clicks increases. As a refresher, website clicks are the number of taps on the link in your bio.
Alternatively, you could use Bitly or similar link shorteners with tracking capabilities for the link in your bio to track the number of clicks. With the wealth of data available to us marketers through the numerous Instagram analytics tools, we can be more data-driven with our Instagram marketing than ever before. Combined with our understanding of our followers, these Instagram insights can enable us to create more valuable and engaging content for our audience.

Different traditions have grown up in how to express odds to customers, older era's came with betting odds between people, today which is illegal in most countries, it was referred as "odding", an underground slang word with origins based in the Bronx.
Favoured by bookmakers in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and also common in horse racing, fractional odds quote the net total that will be paid out to the bettor, should he or she win, relative to the stake. However, not all fractional odds are traditionally read using the lowest common denominator.
Odds with a denominator of 1 are often presented in listings as the numerator only. Fractional and Hong Kong odds are actually exchangeable. The only difference is that the UK odds are presented as a fractional notation (e. Both exhibit the net return. The European odds also represent the potential winnings (net returns), but in addition they factor in the stake (e. This is considered to be ideal for parlay betting, because the odds to be paid out are simply the product of the odds for each outcome wagered on.
Decimal odds are also favoured by betting exchanges because they are the easiest to work with for trading. Decimal odds are also known as European odds, digital odds or continental odds. The figure quoted is either positive or negative. Moneyline odds are often referred to as American odds. The HIGHEST POSSIBLE QUALITY you can Record in OBS Studio... but you probably don't want to.
Moneyline refers to odds on the straight-up outcome of a game with no consideration to a point spread. In most cases, the favorite will have negative moneyline odds (less payoff for a safer bet) and the underdog will have positive moneyline odds (more payoff for a risky bet). However, if the teams are evenly matched, both teams can have a negative line at the same time (e. In gambling, the odds on display do not represent the true chances (as imagined by the bookmaker) that the event will or will not occur, but are the amount that the bookmaker will pay out on a winning bet, together with the required stake.
In formulating the odds to display the bookmaker will have included a profit margin which effectively means that the payout to a successful bettor is less than that represented by the true chance of the event occurring. The true odds against winning for each of the three horses are 1-1, 3-2 and 9-1 respectively.
